Training Excellence Rewarded – 2011 BII NITA Winners Announced

 

 The licensed retail industry’s professional body BII has announced the winners of its 2011 training awards, the BII NITAs, at a ceremony held at The Imperial War Museum, London on Wednesday 30th November.

 

The ultimate recognition of training excellence within the licensed retail industry, the BII NITAs attract a huge following and entries are received from all sectors of the industry – pub companies, breweries, colleges, universities, training companies and individual licensees. Entrants are judged on their own merits irrespective of the size of the organisation or the number of people being trained. They do not have to be BII members or BIIAB approved centres or offering BIIAB qualifications.

 

 Cathie SmithCBII Director of BIIAB commented: “We were delighted with the volume of entries to the 2011 NITAs. We were impressed with the quality of these entries, the judging process is rigorous and I congratulate all the shortlisted finalists on their performance.”

 

Vicky CrossinghamCBII said “I would like to congratulate all the winners of the 2011 BII NITAs. The competition was tough and these winners should be proud of their success.”

 

 Winners in each category were announced at the awards ceremony including the Supreme Award which is given to the entrant in any category which exemplifies excellence and best practice in training, this year that was Luke Davies from Spirit Pub Company.

 

Luke said “I am delighted and overwhelmed to have won Professional Company Trainer and the Supreme Award. These awards are a testament to the excellent training and trainers at Spirit Pub Company”

 

 Neil Robertson also commented on Luke’s success “It is quite amazing what Spirit Pub Company have achieved in a sport space of time. I would like to add my congratulations to Luke and all the team at Spirit Pub Company”

Judges look for the individual or couple that makes the best of the resources available, whatever type of outlet – village local, community boozer or high street bar. The type of venue isn’t important, what is important is that entrants show great business ability, are committed to improving staff and the business, show passion to the business and industry  and show that they could be a great ambassador for BII and professionalism in licensed retail.

The award is open to all UK licensees, whether they are freeholders, tenants/lessees or managers. Entrants do not have to be members of BII.
