Scottish member wins the 2006 Bill Hannon Award
09-May-2006
Craig Frood, BII Scotland Region’s Secretary, was announced as the winner of the 2006 Bill Hannon Award at the BII Annual Luncheon at the Grosvenor House on 9 May 2006.
The Award recognises the hard work that goes on behind the scenes for BII at a local level. It is awarded to those who give their time on a voluntary basis and who are very much the unsung heroes and heroines of BII’s success – without these people BII would certainly not have become the force it is in today’s industry.
John McNamara, BII Chief Executive said, “Craig Frood has played an exceptional role in promoting BII and recruiting members, as well as reviving the BII Scotland Region. As an affiliate member of BII, he always goes the extra mile in his role. He freely commits his time and efforts to help organise BII Scotland’s events, and does so with great panache. Most recently his efforts in organising the Scottish AGM, held in the Caledonian Brewery, led to attendance numbers increasing to four times those attending previously. This was due in no small part to his passion and unfailing enthusiasm for drumming up support.
Mr McNamara added, “Craig believes passionately in helping licensees and raising standards within the sector. Thanks to his introduction Caledonian Breweries is now a BIIAB Approved Centre for delivering BIIAB’s Award in Beer and Cellar Quality. There are few others within BII Scotland’s membership who contribute so much to the BII’s region and mission to promote high standards of professionalism throughout the licensed retail sector.
Notes to Editors:
The Bill Hannon Award was created by SFI following the death in 1995 of Bill Hannon who was at that time Chairman of Surrey Free Inns. This award was established in Bill Hannon’s name as a tribute to his contribution to the industry and influence over the sector, which has indeed affected many individuals here today.
