05-Jul-2007
The Licensing Board members from two of Scotland’s major cities have been the first to take a new qualification, required by the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, with BIIAB.
Both Edinburgh and Glasgow Licensing Board members successfully completed the new BIIAB Scottish Certificate for Licensing Board Members (SCLBM) on the 21st June at two BIIAB approved centres in the respective cities. Glasgow Licensing Board were trained at Glasgow Metropolitan College, whilst Edinburgh Licensing Board were trained at Blueprint Training Solutions, both well established BIIAB approved centres.
The qualification, which is deliverable in a day, is a statutory requirement under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 and was the first accredited by SQA (Regulatory) to meet the Scottish Executive training specification for Licensing Board Members. Board Members must pass a qualification within 3 months of appointment to participate in the proceedings of the Board.
Cathie Smith, Director of BIIAB said “It’s great news that Licensing Boards from two of the major cities in Scotland have decided to achieve their mandatory training requirement with BIIAB. The qualification has undergone extensive piloting and consultation to ensure that it meets both the requirements of the Scottish Executive training specification and is fit for purpose for the role”
