BII Responsible Alcohol Retailing Week draws to a successful end

BII, the professional body for the licensed retail sector, has hailed its 2007 Responsible Alcohol Retailing Week as a great success.

John McNamara, BII Chief Executive, said, “We had a great turnout to our events in Liverpool with representatives from the Home Office, police, Chamber of Commerce and local licensed retail professionals amongst others joining us. We were delighted that Nick Pickard from Hollyoaks took time out from his filming commitments to join us at our event highlighting the importance of qualifications for the licensed retail sector.

Liverpool is a vibrant city and serves as an excellent example of how partnerships between the local authority, police and the licensed trade really can work. Every one of the venues we visited in the city centres showed a high degree of social responsibility and also saw the valuable contribution partnerships can make to their businesses and the community.

“In every corner of the UK BII members also joined in with the Week by exhibiting the exclusive poster designed to visually represent responsible retailing and of course continued in their ongoing commitment to responsible  alcohol retailing. This week really has illustrated social responsibility in action and to top it all off thousands more people took our BIIAB Award in Responsible Alcohol Retailing across the country.”
