BII Announces Licensee of the Year 2005
Lucy Craig has been announced as BII Licensee of the Year 2005, sponsored by Matthew Clarke Wholesale. Lucy collected the industry's most prestigious award at the Publican Awards held at Grosvenor House in London's Park Lane on the 22nd March 2005
Lucy is manager of the £1million turnover Ha! Ha! Bar and Canteen in the heart of Brighton's bustling shopping and central business district - and bang in the middle of the evening circuit.
Lucy Craig epitomises the new generation of licensee, she uses her vibrant personality and entrepreneurial nature to build on high retail standards to drive forward her business and increase the skills level of staff at other venues within the Ha! Ha! Bar and Canteen group.
"Some people think this is a long step away from my degree in theatre and performing", says Lucy. "I, disagree. This is an extension of performing arts. We are in the public domain where we must manage and exceed customer expectations. I, and my staff - including the chefs in the open kitchen galley, are on stage all day. Ha! Ha! has a sense of occasion when you walk in and every day is a performance."
