Debora’s The Best Bar Personality In Scotland!

11-May-2008

Debora Hamilton, a member of staff from the Millfield Pub in Polmont, Falkirk, has been announced as the winner of this year’s prestigious BII Bar Personality of the Year Award for Scotland. BII is the professional body for the licensed trade and the award recognises the very highest standards of professionalism and service within the pub industry.

Candidates were assessed on a number of criteria including: product knowledge, training and friendly service.  Nominations were made from pubs all over Scotland and six finalists, including Debora, were invited to the Radisson Hotel for the annual BII Scotland Dinner Dance where the winner was announced.

Stephen Rooney, of Scottish & Newcastle Pub Enterprises who sponsor the award, commented: “Great people are one of the factors which make great pubs so the award is a great way of rewarding those who make a real difference in the licensed trade.  Debora’s professional attitude and love of her job really shone through during the assessments and I have no doubt she will go on to have a very successful career in the licensed trade.”

Morris Lorimer of BII said: “This is the tenth year I have judged this award.  This year has been the biggest with over fifty entrants – and the best, as the quality of candidate improves year after year.  When judges say it’s been a difficult job people often find this a clichéd statement, however this is definitely not the case with this competition.  Roll on next year!”

Mary Yuill, owner of the Millfield pub said: “ We always knew that the service in the Millfield was second to none.  It’s great to get some external recognition of the fact and I hope people will visit Polmont to experience the fantastic service for themselves.  Debora is a highly valued member of staff and I am delighted she has received this award, she thoroughly deserves it.”
