‘Unsung Heroine’ Pauline Receives BII Honour

13-May-2008

Pauline Ross FBII, secretary and treasurer of BII’s Central Region, was today announced this year’s recipient of the Bill Hannon Award for exceptional contribution to the work of BII. The announcement was made at BII’s Annual Lunch, which took place at Grosvenor House.

The Award was created in 1995, following the death of Bill Hannon, as a permanent memorial to a man who had a huge influence on the industry, and serves to recognise the hard work that goes on behind the scenes for BII. It is awarded to those who give their time on a voluntary basis and who are very much the unsung heroes and heroines of BII’s success – without these people BII would certainly not have become the force it is in today’s industry.

Pauline was nominated to receive the award by Bernard Brindley, chairman of BII’s Central Region, as he feels she “lives and breathes BII” and does a “truly magnificent job”. She always attends regional BII meetings, helping to arrange seminars and training days and producing minutes and financial reports which Bernard states are second to none.

Bernard commented: “Pauline is every chairman’s ideal right hand person and I’d like to congratulate her on winning this award for her outstanding professionalism and commitment to BII.”

Pauline was presented with her award on 13th May 2008 by Martin Grant CMBII, chairman of BII, and John McNamara CMBII, chief executive of BII. Mary Hannon, widow of the late Bill Hannon, was in attendance at the BII Annual Lunch to see Pauline receive the award.
