25-Mar-2003
Clive Mansell MBII and Alison Carter MBII of the Ship Inn, Owslebury, nr Winchester, have today been announced as the winners of The British Institute of Innkeeping’s (BII) 2003 Licensee of the Year award, sponsored by Matthew Clark.
After a tough judging process, Clive and Alison fought off competition from five other regional winners and were presented with the prestigious title of BII 2003 Licensee of the Year at the glittering Publican Awards ceremony at Le Meridien Grosvenor House, London. They also received a trophy and a cheque for £1000.
The Licensee of the Year award is one of the highest accolades for those working within the licensed retailing industry. It recognises the licensee or couple that represent today’s professional industry with high standards and vision, as well as the drive to continue raising standards in the industry and promoting potential recruits.
John McNamara, the BII’s Chief Executive said: “The title of BII Licensee of the Year is a highly coveted prize in our sector, and you’ve got to be a really outstanding licensee to win it! Clive and Alison thoroughly deserve this award as they run an impressive business and have an attitude to their work and the industry that truly reflects all that the BII stands for – vision, standards, training and professionalism. They are passionate and committed licensees who I know will act as fantastic ambassadors for our industry and I offer them my congratulations on this achievement.” -2-
