The six licensees or licensee couples won their place in the final following the rigorous second stage of judging in this year’s award, sponsored by Matthew Clark.
The Licensee of the Year award is one of the highest accolades that can be received within the industry. It recognises the licensee or licensee couple who show the highest level of professionalism. The judges have been looking for high standards and vision, as well as licensees with the drive to continue raising standards in the industry and promoting potential recruits.
A panel of industry judges will decide an overall winner after interviewing the six next month. The result will be announced at the Publican Award ceremony held on March 25, 2003, at London’s Le Meridien Grosvenor House in front of 1,700 industry figures. Along with the prestigious title 2003 BII Licensee of the Year, the winner will be presented with a trophy and a cheque for £1,000.
BII marketing manager Brigitte Rushmore ABII said: “After a tough judging process, these licensees should be really proud to have reached this final stage of the competition and truly deserve to be in the last six. We are now eagerly anticipating the awards ceremony in the spring which is always a fantastic occasion.” ends]
