Lichfield-based pub operator the Punch Pub Company has been announced as a finalist in three categories of the BII 2001 NITAs (Rewarding Training Excellence in Licensed Retailing) held in association with the licensed retail newspaper, Morning Advertiser.

The company has been recognised for it's training in the Supreme Award for the Best Overall Training Programme for Non-Managed Estates, the Award for the Best Targeted Training Course Designed to Meet Specific Operational Needs and the Award for the Best Course Designed to Develop Food/Catering Skills. The awards are run by the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) which sees them as central to the pursuit of ever higher standards of training in this industry. A full list of finalists is attached.

There are eight categories in the BII 2001 NITAs and are open to all pub retail companies, both large and small, as well as individual licensees and training organisations. This year also sees the introduction of a new category that reflects the demand for social responsibility within the on-licensed retail sector. The judges will be looking for evidence that training objectives and outcomes are achieved by maximising the use of resources available.

The winners will be announced at a prestigious Awards Luncheon to be held at Café Royal, London on March 22, 2002. ends]
