Hawarden licensee announced as regional winner in the British Institute of Innkeeping 2002 Licensee of the Year competition sponsored by Matthew Clark

Lance Scally MBII of the Fox and Grapes in Hawarden, Flintshire, has been announced as regional winner for the Midlands and Wales region of the 2002 BII Licensee of the Year competition, sponsored by Matthew Clark. He will now proceed on to the final stage of judging.

BII Licensee of the Year is the highest award available in licensed retailing and recognises the licensee or couple that represent today’s professional licensees. The judges are looking for high standards and vision, as well as licensees with the drive to continue raising standards in the industry and promote it to potential recruits.

There are six regional winners who will all be interviewed by a panel of industry judges to decide the overall winner. The result will be announced at the Publican Awards ceremony held on March 26, 2002 at London’s Le Meridien Grosvenor House in front of 1,700 industry figures. As well as the prestige of the title 2002 BII Licensee of the Year, the winners receive a trophy and £1,000.

Lance Scally MBII said, “I am very excited about reaching this final stage of the 2002 BII Licensee of the Year competition. I have a strong team and enjoy being part of this industry, and I am really looking forward to the awards ceremony in March.” …./more
