BII revises its QE and IC Qualifications

29-Aug-2001

The British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) has revised its Induction Examination Certificate (IC) and Qualifying Examination Certificate (QE) qualifications. The revisions ensure that the qualifications meet the needs of today’s modern licensed retailers. The qualifications will also have new assessment regimes including central marking for the QE, and both will benefit from new material to support each syllabus.

The IC and QE are two of the BII’s longest-running qualifications. They provide basic knowledge for new entrants to licensed retailing. The IC syllabus includes knowledge of health and safety, financial management, employment law, marketing, cellar management, service of drinks, food and catering. In addition, the QE covers cash control and security, staffing, management skills, merchandising and selling skills and managing the maintenance of premises. Both the IC and the QE include the National Licensee’s Certificate for On-Licensed premises.

BII qualifications manager Gemma Bloomfield GBII said: “The QE and IC are among our most popular qualifications – but it is important to ensure the syllabus is up to date and relevant. These revisions do that, and the changes to the assessment process will protect and improve the integrity and value of these qualifications to the industry.” ends]
