Popular Channel 4 programme involving Leisure Careers UK, repeated twice on television
01-Jun-2001
It seems that the efforts of Leisure Careers UK, the initiative of the British Institute of Innkeeping is paying off. The My Brilliant Career series shown as part of the Channel 4 Schools programme screened an episode focusing on careers in licensed retail and as a result, is going to be repeated twice on June 14 and 21 at 10.25am.
The show, which promotes careers in a wide range of industries, featured a Casa Manager, a Hogshead area manager and a licensee with his own microbrewery and talked about the opportunities that lie ahead for those wanting to be involved in the licensed retail sector.
LCUK manager Richard Parker said: “The fact that the show has already been screened and is now being repeated twice during prime schools time, shows that we have made an impression. This is the kind of exposure we need in order to raise the profile of the Industry and it’s a great opportunity for us all.”
The show’s website that can be found at www.channel4.com/brilliantcareers, also features a range of jobs in the sector from barstaff to area managers. People who are interested in a career within the licensed trade can also find links from the Channel Four website to the Barzone website – www.barzone.co.uk, the recruitment and information tool for the LCUK initiative. ends]
