British Institute of Innkeeping members can again benefit from free training under the Better Busine
14-Feb-2001
Members of the British Institute of Innkeeping can again take Institute
Advanced Qualifications for just the cost of the exam fee under this year’s
Better Business Initiative. This is the fourth year of the initiative which was
set up to offer £250,000 of training investment for members over five years.
The chosen programme this year is the Advanced Qualification Licensed Retail Practical Trainer Certificate. Courses will be running across the country and all members have to pay is the £45 exam fee. The investment represents a value of around £750 to each participant. There will be one Better Business Initiative course run in each of the 15 Institute regions to ensure the initiative is accessible to all members.
Deputy director John Walker said: “The Licensed Retail Practical Trainer Advanced Qualification is especially relevant for two key reasons. The first is to allow licensees to teach our forthcoming Professional Bar Person qualification in their own venues. The second is that licensees will have to place additional emphasis on staff training in response to changes in the law particularly in relation to the serving of alcohol to underage drinkers.
“The Better Business Initiative is probably the Institute’s most effective benefit and I know of no other professional organisation that supports its members in this way. Our members would be bonkers to miss out.”
