The Award recognises the hard work that goes on behind the scenes of the BII. It is presented to those who give their time on a voluntary basis and who are really the unsung heroes and heroines of the BII’s success.

Olive has been in the pub trade for almost 40 years, was a founding member of NALHM (National Association of Licensed House Managers) and has been a valued member of the BII for the past 20 years.

John McNamara, Chief Executive of the BII said: "Olive is an ambassador to our industry and truly deserves this award for all her efforts. She has represented the BII’s North West Region as Chairman and more recently as Treasurer, and we are very proud of her continuous dedication to the BII."

Notes to Editors

  1. The Bill Hannon Award was created by SFI Group (a pub company) following the death in 1995 of Bill Hannon – the companies then chairman. It was put in place as a permanent memorial to a man who had huge influence on the industry.

  2. The BII is the professional body for the licensed trade. It has around 15,500 members and last year BIIAB processed over 80,000 qualifications. Its mission is to promote high standards of professionalism throughout the licensed retail sector; to encourage new entrants into the industry, and to help them develop their long-term careers. To provide all our members with high quality information, skills and qualifications to help them succeed in their business activities.
