Tickets selling rapidly for ‘Working Together for Learners’ FAB conference

17-Oct-2005

There are still a few spaces left on 2005 Federation of Awarding Bodies National Conference so delegates are urged to book now to confirm their places.

This year, the Federation is pleased to announce that ticket prices have been frozen at the same rates as 2004.  Delegates come from a range of stakeholder organisations, from awarding bodies and providers to government agencies and funding bodies, and the conference will be an opportunity to review the effectiveness and coherence of the radical transformations that are currently taking place in vocational qualifications.

FAB has confirmed that Phil Hope, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Skills, will be delivering a keynote speech in which he will give an update on the Skills Strategy and related reform initiatives.  Our other speakers, Mary Curnock Cook, from the Qualifications & Curriculum Authority, Caroline Neville for the Learning & Skills Council and Richard Wilson from the Institute of Directors will also provide their perspective on developments that affect all learners and employers, including the Framework for Achievement and the Agenda for Change programme.

A full programme of seminars will also be offered on the second day of the conference.  Seminar topics that will be covered include funding for learning, reducing bureaucracy for centres and frameworks for credit.  Both days of the conference will offer delegates the chance to not only better understand the developments in vocational education, but also to help influence them.

Ticket prices for the conference start from £200 and to book your place, please contact Lindsay Maddison on 01276 417823 or book online at www.awarding.org.uk.

For more information on the content of this conference please contact Kate Shoesmith on 020 7294 8023 or by email FAB@city-and-guilds.co.uk.

Notes to editors:-

FAB was formed in 2000 by the four largest vocational awarding bodies and now has 76 vocational awarding body members including City & Guilds, OCR and Edexcel.

FAB is the trade association for vocational awarding bodies by acting as the first point of contact for its members, the regulators and all stakeholder organisations.

FAB’s activities focus on achieving a vocational qualifications system that meets the differing needs of learners, employers, education and training providers and awarding bodies, as well as offering good value to funding and taxpayers.

The 2005 FAB National Conference is their third annual conference and this year is to be held on Thursday, 24th and Friday, 25th November at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.
