Performing Right Society

PRS logoPRS is the UK Society that administers the performing right in the musical works of composers, songwriters and music publishers. With over 44,000 members, PRS collected over £320 million for its members, from licence income from UK public performance and broadcasting and international usage during 2005.

When copyright music is played in public, the business owner has a legal obligation to obtain a PRS Music Licence. PRS collects and distributes this money (known as ‘royalties’) to its members and to affiliated societies overseas.

A PRS licence offers millions of titles of all styles providing the licensee with the music that is right for their business. PRS can also provide sound advice on how best to use it to make it work.
