Wadworth & Co Ltd

Founded in 1875, Wadworth and Company Limited, of Devizes, boast an enviable tradition in the brewing of fine beers. The Northgate Brewery, with its impressive Victorian façade, was designed and built by Henry Wadworth in 1885, and is still run as a family business by his partners descendants. Many of the original brewing techniques and closely guarded recipes are still employed today and, to preserve the high standards laid down by the founders, great care is taken to select only the finest malt, hops and yeast for the brewing process. This ensures that customers can rely on consistency and superb taste with all Wadworth products.

The Shire Horses were reintroduced in 1974 and two working horse drawn dray are a popular sight in Devizes every weekday morning.

The company also has a cooper – only one of five left in Britain working exclusively on beer barrels. An increasing amount of our production is sent out to the trade in wooden casks.

Apart from our nationally renowned 6X cask ale brewed in Devizes, we produce a number of excellent beers including SummerSault, Henry’s IPA, Malt & Hops and Old Father Timer.

Wadworth have a highly successful estate of 210 tenanted and 39 managed pubs across Berkshire, Bristol, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Somerset and Wiltshire.
