BII CI Regional Chairman Simon Le Cornu-Brown commented: “Jersey is extremely fortunate in having some excellent pubs and bars. Per capita, we must have the highest density of quality establishments in Europe. As in previous years, the judges expressed their difficulty in choosing between the finalists in each category.
“Special commendation goes to Justin Pledger who has used his insight to rebrand the Victoria in St. Peter’s Valley and capture the trend that is fine dining in a casual, friendly atmosphere.
“Two rising stars also received awards; Hannah Phillips at The Five Oaks and Maria Holley at The Wellington were stunned to receive recognition for their commitment and enthusiasm. These people are the future of our local industry and it is a credit to them and their employer Liberation Group that they have both excelled at work and in their studies – they have both taken BII qualifications.”
Representatives of the sponsors presented the awards to the winners in their category and prizes to the other finalists. The dinner was also attended by BII’s new Chief Executive Neil Robertson who commented: “I have been impressed with the quality and professionalism of all the winners. The commitment to high standards is clear across the board – not just from the award winners but from all those working in, or concerned with, the industry on the islands.”
