Summary
Co-ordinated by the Association of Town Centre Managers (ATCM), Purple Flag is a new award scheme which recognises excellence in the management of our town and city centres at night.
The ATCM is running FREE seminars around the country offering interested parties the chance to find out more about how their town or city can secure this prestigious award.
Birmingham - Friday 19th March
Durham - Friday 26th March
London - Monday 29th March
Nottingham - Friday 16th April
Purple Flag has been developed by a team of industry experts and is supported by the Home Office, Association of Chief Police Officers, LACORS, Diageo and many other organisations. The Purple Flag scheme has been set up to establish national standards and raise the image of Britain's town centres at night.
A team of trained assessors will work through the night to assess each town that enters and offer advice and guidance as well as recommendations to the judging panel on whether it meets the Purple Flag standards, which include:
- Clean and safe environments
- Great bars and clubs
- Variety and choices including arts and culture
- Excellent transport links at night
Since its launch in October 2009 Purple Flags have been awarded to:
Bath, Birmingham, Covent Garden, Kingston Upon Thames, Leicester Square and Manchester.
To book a place on the FREE seminars, complete the booking form here and return to ATCM. Spaces are limited so please book early. More dates and locations will be announced.
The purple flag scheme will be opening for further applications in March 2010. Keep an eye out for more details or contact Toyubur Rahman on 07920 452 089 or Toyubur.rahman@atcm.org.
