Summer Event 2020 – postponed until 2021

As we headed into lockdown, it sadly became clear that the BII Summer Event would not be happening on June 16th 2020. We have been working hard behind the scenes to see if we could move the date to later in the year, however, with so much uncertainty surrounding the hospitality industry at the moment, we have concluded that the only option is to postpone the event until Summer 2021.

We know that this event is a special one in the industry calendar for hundreds of licensed trade colleagues and friends. Whilst we are sad that we won’t hosting you all this year, and disappointed that we have had to pause the Licensee of the Year judging process, we are putting plans in place that will ensure Summer Event 2021 will be an industry celebration to remember.

2021 was already going to be a very special year for the BII, as it marks our 40th Anniversary as the leading professional membership body offering trusted support to people at the heart of great pubs. We are determined that next year will be reflective of the spirit of collaboration and courage shown in our industry during these incredibly challenging times and will provide the focus and direction for the next 40 years of the BII.

Alongside working hard to ensure we get the support that is desperately needed from Government for the licensed trade, and providing vital information to our members through our integral helplines and communication channels, we have been sharing the stories of hope, compassion and innovation from our members and those in the wider hospitality industry.

Therefore, as part of our continued focus on promoting the incredible people in our trade, we will be giving away 5 pairs of tickets to next year’s Summer Event to those who have gone above and beyond for their staff, colleagues, customers and communities during this unprecedented time in our lives.

Our aim for Summer Event 2021, is that we can celebrate not only the excellence shown by the Licensee of the Year finalists, but also recognise and reward the incredibly talented and committed people who have ensured the survival of our vibrant and essential industry – those who run our fantastic pubs.

We hope that you will join us for what will be a fantastic event in a landmark year, not only for the BII, but for our entire industry.
