An integral part of BII membership, the Legal & Licensing helpline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

1. HR & Employment Law

We can help with employment disputes, contract issues, disciplinary and grievance procedures, TUPE obligations, and any other employment or HR issue you might have. 

You can call as many times as you need.

2. General Legal

In this area we provide guidance on a wide range of private and business law issues including:

Disputes with contractors, issues relating to pubs using foreign decoders to air Premier league football matches, mis-sold advertising, road closures, disputes with your landlord, health and safety issues or even personal issues like divorce.

Licensing

Stuck filling out Premises Licence application? Or want to appeal a review or renew your 10-year Personal Licence?

These are some examples of where we can provide advice when it comes to day-to-day licensing queries. The helpline can also assist in emergency situations, for example, your premises being put under threat of closure or the police arriving to attend an incident in the wee hours.

3. Food, Fire & Health Compliance

Our newest helpline providers, Shield Safety Group, are hand to advise BII members with EHO access available for the discussion of compliance matters. 

Specialising in Food, Fire, Health & Safety, Shield Safety Group offer expert help so you can stay up to date with regulations at a time when protocols are being released regularly.

4. Rates

Provided for us by Harris Lamb - your initial consultation with them on your rates is free and they will only charge you a fee if they win your appeal for you. They MAY advise you that appealing is not the best course of action for you.

5. Employment tax

For queries regarding your employees, covering issues such as; the correct tax and national insurance deductions required through payroll, which expenses can be claimed as genuine business expenses, employee benefits, termination/redundancy payments, engaging contractors, staff gifts and staff entertaining.

For BII Members we provide high level assistance by phone for up to 30 minutes as part of your membership. Should you require more detailed advice, this can be provided for an agreed fee.
