BII publishes details of its member support survey - 95% would recommend membership

The British Institute of Innkeeping has today revealed the results of its survey of members, in this, its 40th year as the leading independent membership organisation for individuals working in the licensed trade.

The BII aims to inspire, develop and support its 9,000 plus members through a comprehensive range of support services, partners, events and national awards celebrating excellence in the hospitality sector.

Respondents to the survey rated the support given via the charity’s 8 Helplines, as well as the full range of benefits including support guides, industry updates and guidance from expert Trusted Partners.

95% said they would recommend membership of the BII to other licensed trade professionals, with belonging to a recognised professional trade body being one of the most important elements of membership to many.

The trade body’s regular INNfocus update, came second only to the Helplines as the most important member benefit. This weekly email includes clear and actionable information in areas such as; industry insights, essential updates, legislative changes and news from Government as well as HR advice, mental fitness & wellbeing support, plus ideas for licensees to help diversify their businesses.

The survey has also highlighted ideas for growth, particularly around expanding key Trusted Partners, as well as sharing best practice from industry experts and other members via webinars and video content.

BII CEO, Steve Alton commented:

“The support that the BII gives its members has never been more important than over the last year. Whilst it is great to see that we are on the right track in terms of supporting our members in the present, we are also looking to the future to ensure we continue to build on the foundations created over the last 40 years at the heart of the pub sector.

“Our members run fantastic, vibrant and viable businesses and when they are able to reopen their doors again, they will need all the support they can get to enable them to rebuild and recover their pubs. The BII is determined for its members to be at the heart of the national economic recovery and will do all we can to help ensure that their businesses can thrive once more.

“The whole team at the BII are encouraged by the results of the survey. They have worked tirelessly to help our members address challenges across all areas of their businesses. It is great to know that what we do really matters to our members as we head into the next 40 years offering trusted, independent support to people at the heart of our Great British Pubs.”
