Licensing Reminder - Deadlines for Festive TENs

With the festive season fast approaching a number of clients have already approached me to serve TENs on their behalf to increase their hours during December. A number of clients seek an additional hour every Friday and Saturday in December, which generally seems to get granted.

Here are some important points to remember about TENs:

1.  Make sure you check your premises licence before serving a TEN – have a look at your hours for licensable activities and whether you have any non-standard timings already permitted.

2.  Remember that if a TEN starts before midnight and ends after midnight then it will count as 2 days from your allowance

3.   TENs can last no more than 21 days. A premises can have up to 15 TENs per annum.

4.   The maximum capacity of a TEN/Late TEN (including staff) is 499 at any one time

5.   You must apply for a TEN at least 10 clear working days before your event (at least 5 clear working days for a Late TEN)

Please see the table below for last dates for submission:

Though advertised as a simple process, TENs are actually quite complicated. The form runs to a good 13 pages including notes.
