After a very successful four year tenure, Anthony Pender, Chairperson of the BII, will shortly be standing down from his position. During the four years of his tenure, Anthony has led the way in making the organisation both financially stable and sustainable and, in conjunction with the Chief Executive, Mike Clist, has successfully restructured both the membership programme and the underpinning organisational structure.
In addition to the internal developments made by Anthony, he has established the BII as an industry association which not only represents its members but one that is both listened to and consulted with by the Government and other like-minded associations and bodies. With Mike, they have returned to the purpose and objectives upon which the BII was originally founded.
Having ensured firm foundations and a clear strategic direction under Anthony’s tenure the BII are now looking for a successor who will be able to focus on delivering the strategic plan, enhancing the benefits available to the organisations’ members and giving a renewed focus on its in-house training offer. This is an extremely exciting period in the BII’s development and to that end the BII are inviting applications for the Chair’s role of the BII and would welcome enquiries from all interested parties who feel that they have the skills to build on the successful changes made to date.
And here’s how Anthony sees his tenure:
“It’s been a fantastic four years working with a large team of both team members at Farnborough and exceptional individuals who volunteer their time to make the BII tick. As a team we’ve focused the organisation on its key principles of Training, Professionalism & Standards. With a stable foundation now in place and clear direction, there is the real chance to continue the growth of the BII and ensure it supports the future of the pub and hospitality workforce.”
Anthony Pender, Chair, BII.
